What is hot for 20xxin our colleges? It is the spelling mistakes. Countless students lack due attention to spelling. Taking a look around, we can find examples too numerous to list, the one may be “challenge”. Freshman and sophomore almost write this word as “challenge”. How careless they are!

Why such a phenomenon sweeps every university? Some experts attribute it to students’ inattention, because students always pay no attention to spelling. However, other experts argue, the teachers should be blamed for this situation. In my opinion, it is far beyond any reasonable doubt that both of them should exert themselves to change the spelling mistakes.

The spreading of the spelling mistakes has extremely negative effects on the education. For one thing, the special age that none of students can spell correctly will come soon. For another, while communicating with foreigners, we will be laughed at the spelling mistakes made by ourselves. As a result, due attention should be given to spelling immediately.

advertisements appear everywhere in modern society. when you walk along the streets, you can see large billboards with beautiful girls smiling at you. you read newspapers, and you find half of the pages covered with ads. turn on the tv set and you will see ads again. whether you like it or not ads are pouring into your life every moment.

these days advertisers devise hundreds of competitions which will enable us to win huge sums of money. they not only offer samples, but free cars, free houses, and free trip abroad as well. they have discovered that all of us love to get something for nothing. radio and television have made it possible for advertisers to capture the attention of millions of people in this way.

but not all advertisements are trustworthy. certain advertised products turn out to be deceitful, or fail to live up to what is advertised. some advertisements tempt consumers to spend money and buy things they don’t really need. so the consumers’ own sound judgments are necessary and essential.

  Sample:

Recently it has become a common phenomenon for college students to have two majors at the same time. In this way, they can get double BA degrees when they graduate from the university several years later.

Although it may bring unfavorable consequences, we can be sure to conclude that this practice is favorable on the whole. To begin with, most students will become more hardworking and efficient in order to finish the learning tasks satisfactorily. Moreover, with two degrees at hand after graduation, they will stand a better chance in the job market full of fierce competition. In the third place, as for today's university students, tuition and fees are becoming more and more expensive. If they can make achievements in study at school and find a satisfactory job afterwards, it will not be a big problem.

Weighing the pros and cons of such a new trend, we can naturally arrive at the conclusion that it is beneficial and rewarding. This system not only compels students to work hard, but also prepares them for the coming competition.

In recent years, the volunteering spirit has spread among the Chinese people, especially among youngsters. According to a survey, in xxxx, there were about 1,700,000 volunteers who offered service for Olympic Games. Actually, an increasing number of people become volunteers every year in China.

Volunteering actions are of tremendous benefits to both those in need and the society. Olympic Games are a good example. As is known to all, volunteers played an active role in Beijing Olympic Games. Without them, it would be a tough task to hold this un-precedent Olympic Games. Therefore, we can say that it was those volunteers who ensured the success of these games. As modern college students, we should get actively involved in volunteering activities. By participating, we can learn how to work well in a team, how to improve our interpersonal skills and organizational ability. Undoubtedly, all of these are critical for our person growth. So, we should take this chance to learn and to grow. (161words)

leave him alone" i yelled as i walked out of the orphanage gate and saw several of the spring park school bullies pushing the deaf kid around。 i did not know the boy at all but i knew that we were about the same age, because of his size。 he lived in the old white house across the street from the orphanage where i lived。 i had seen him on his front porch several times doing absolutely nothing, ecept just sitting there making funny like hand movements。

in the summer time we didnt get much to eat for sunday supper, ecept watermelon and then we had to eat it outside behind the dining room so we would not make a mess on the tables inside。 about the only time that i would see him was through the high chain—link fence that surrounded the orphanage when we ate our watermelon outside。

the deaf kid started making all kind of hand signals, real fast like。 "you are a stupid idiot" said the bigger of the two bullies as he pushed the boy down on the ground。 the other bully ran around behind the boy and kicked him as hard as he could in the back。 the deaf boys body started shaking all over and he curled up in a ball trying to shield and hide his face。 he looked like he was trying to cry, or something but he just couldnt make any sounds, i dont think。i ran as fast as i could back through the orphanage gate and into the thick azalea bushes。 i uncovered my home—made bow which i had constructed out of bamboo and string。 i grabbed four arrows that were also made of bamboo and they had coca cola tops bent around the ends to make real sharp tips。 then i ran back out the gate with an arrow cocked in the bow and i just stood there quiet like, breathing real hard just daring either one of them to kick or touch the boy again。

"youre a dumb freak just like him you big eared creep" said one of the boys as he grabbed his friend and backed off far enough so that the arrow would not hit them。 "if youre so brave kick him again now" i said, shaking like a leaf。 the bigger of the two bullies ran up and kicked the deaf boy in the middle of his back as hard as he could and then he ran out of arrow range again。the boy jerked about and then made a sound that i will never forget for as long as i live。 it was the sound like a whale makes when it has been harpooned and knows that it is about to die。 i fired all four of my arrows at the two bullies as they ran away laughing about what they had done。

i pulled the boy up off the ground and helped him back to his house which was about two blocks down the street from the school building。 when we reached his home his sister told me that her brother was deaf but that he was not dumb like the two bullies said。 that he was very smart but could not say or hear anything。 i told her that he did make a sound when the bully kicked him in the back。 she told me that i must be mistaken because all her brothers vocal cords had been removed during an eperimental surgery, which had failed。the boy made one of those hand signs at me as i was about to leave。 i asked his sister "if your brother is so smart then why is he doing things like that with his hands?" she told me that he was saying that he loved me with his hands。 i didnt say anything back to her at all because i didnt believe her。 people cant talk with their hands and everybody knows that。 people can only talk with their mouth。

almost every sunday for the net year or two i could see the boy through the chain—link fence as we ate watermelon outside behind the dining room, during the summer time。 he always made that same funny hand sign at me and i would just wave back at him, not knowing what else to do。

on my very last day in the orphanage i was being chased by the police。 they told me that i was being sent off to the florida school for boys reform school, at marianna so i ran to get away from them。 they chased me around the dining room building several times and finally i made a dash for the chain—link fence and tried to climb over in order to escape。 i saw the deaf boy sitting there on his porch just looking at me as they pulled me down from the fence and handcuffed me。 the boy, now about twelve jumped up and ran across san diego road, placed his fingers through the chain—link fence and just stood there looking at us。

Recently, people in growing numbers show their concern about selecting courses. In some colleges, students are permitted to pick out their courses professors freely. The reasons are listed as follows:

In the first place, students can choose the teacher according to their interests, which will be helpful for their future careers. Besides, selecting courses can reduce the rate of students absence indirectly for students usually choose their favorite teachers.

As far as I am concerned, every coin has two sides. On the one hand, students may learn the course better, because they may choose the professor they liked. On the other hand, if the professor who is very popular and a great number of students would like to attend his/her course, the classroom must be overcrowded. It will have a bad impact on the class.

Hi Mark,I'm so glad that you have made up your mind to teach English in China. Before you make a decision about your precise destination, let me introduce my hometown, Chongqing.

Located in southwest China, Chongqing may not enjoy worldwide fame as much as Beijing or Shanghai, but it is a thriving metropolis with lower cost of living. Working and living here, you can achieve your career goals without feeling too much stress. The locals are known for being warm and hospitable, and you can teach in a way that feels good for you. To be sure, teaching a foreign language in a city where residents speak a dialect all the time can be very challenging. It takes time indeed to correct pronunciation mistakes each student makes. But since you are always praised for your kindness and patience, it should hardly be an obstacle for you.

Anyway, I will support and help you as much as possible, whichever city you go to. I believe living and teaching in China will be a pleasant and memorable experience for you.

  Best wishes,Li Ming

  On Cosmetic Surgeries

In recent years, there have appeared more and more artificial beauties around us.Not only those actresses but also many ordinary women are crazy about cosmetic surgeries. They fail to resist the temptation of becoming more beautiful by changing some parts of their bodies within a few hours’ surgery.

What are responsible for the prevalence of cosmetic surgeries? Firstly, thanks to the development of shaping techniques, the chances of successful surgeries have increased greatly, which makes more people begin to believe and accept cosmetic surgeries.Secondly, with the improvement of living standard, people have more money to satisfy their nature of pursuing beauty.

From my point of view, cosmetic surgeries have their necessity of existence in modern society. They do help some people build confidence by giving them a beautiful face or figure. However, cosmetic surgeries cannot bring permanent beauty and might be dangerous.Besides,I think one’s inner beauty is more important. Therefore,I suggest that people should think twice before deciding to accept cosmetic surgeries.

What Is in the Way of Paying Back the Loans

Ever since colleges started to charge the students for the education they receive, there has always been a problem for some students, especially for those from remote rural regions, to get the money for it. So the government offers them an option of borrowing money from banks. Surveys show that the number of students financing his education in this way is increasing.

However, some students, although not many, failed to pay back the loans as they had promised in the contract. The banks have a very hard time coping with this problem. And the government can do nothing effective to help the banks.I think there is more than one reason for this. Dishonesty may be one but not the major one. As is known, we are experiencing a particular phase of economic development where the supply of human resources is much bigger than the demand for it. So many students are not able to find a well-paid job. How can they pay the loans back? To solve this problem, I think the government should make efforts to get the whole economy go smoothly, creating more job opportunities.

“Silence is gold” is a popular saying in which many people have belief. To these people speaking too much is not a merit. However, if you always keep silent, you will probably miss many golden opportunities instead of obtaining the gold of silence. Last week I read an article written by an office lady. The company where she worked had two kinds of offices: cubicle office and window office. As a new employee she worked in a cubicle office together with twenty colleagues. Two years later she still worked there but some colleagues who came later than her had moved into the window office. She felt confused. One day one colleague told her that window office wasn’t obtained without request. But believing that she certainly gained one if she did a good job the woman had never asked for it. From the woman’s experience we learn that silence is not always gold. In the modern society one needs to speak his mind and speak for his own interests.

A the examinations corejis the only criterion for his academic performance students driven to memorize mechanically rather than to think creatively.

In fact, few of us admit that examinations can contribute anything really important to the students’ academic development. If that is the case, why cannot we make a change and devise something more efficient and reliable than examinations?
