This paper attempts to use a current issue to analyze the relation between culture, communication and mass media. The author selects the most controversial issue in England that is when Kate Middleton will get married with Prince William, Kate Middleton has arouse most attention of people’ eyes. It is thoughtful and considerable to imagine whether the common bride can live happily with Prince William until their aged year. That is a very debate about the love between common people and the royal family. There is no doubt that everyone to live in this world whoever you are considers this issue in different dimensions. The relation between three subjects? It is discussed by three mainly factors-power. spectacle and memory within contemporary mediated culture. The significance of this paper is to explore the relation between mass media and communication through different factors and lay a solid foundation for theoretical and practical implementation of related theories and construct the related corpus to mass media and communication field.
This paper will adopt case study and quantitative methodology with questionnaires and interviews to analyze which factor are tend to influence the communication and mass media. The data will be chosen by common people. And then settle the data materials and get a conclusion of related studies. Based on the theoretical framework of communication and mass media, dealing with this issue is through different dimensions and methodology to analyze it. As we all know, the Kate Middleton’ question is an eye- catching issue because of it belonging to royal family’s affaires, so it has become controversial issue in the discussion of all the questions. Although we do not know the real incident, the information we get from different transmission channel. Therefore, it is worthy of making a research of how media have a great effect on communication by the factor- power, spectacle and memory.
The following is to outline the main framework and structure of the whole paper. The first part will present the introduction about the source and significance of the topic as well as the structure of the paper. The second part mainly discusses the theories about communication and culture, and theoretical basis of related theories about power, memory and spectacle. The third part is to analyze the example above to implement the theories into the case, and explain how different factors to apply into the example and how it is informed by different dimensions. The last part is to draw a conclusion of the whole paper and some suggestion in the future. This paper involves in different domain including psychology, media, culture, linguistics and society. So the topic is more complex in analyzing the reasons and approaches to reach the same effects and has become the most controversial topic in people’s eyes. So this topic is much worthy.
